Wine Design – Storing Your Collection Safely and Aesthetically

July 13, 2022

How to store your wine the right way

Your home is your sanctuary, especially when you open a bottle of an aged vintage and get ready to put your feet up and relax or share a memorable evening with some of your favourite people.

For true wine lovers its not just about drinking a glass of something that tastes and feels good. Its about the entire experience. You open your wine fridge or head into your wine cellar and peruse the bottles that patiently await your pleasure. You run your hands across them thinking about the memories that certain tastes evoke. Once you open the bottle – gently – you might even aerate or decant the wine for a while so that its full flavour is present before you have your first mouthful.

This ritual and appreciation mean that you need a place of honour for your collection. You want to be able to show off your wine and have it add to the design element of your home. Where and how do you do this? Our team has set up options for several types of environments and we’re sure to have one that fits your style. Let’s look at some of the best options.

Beautiful wine storage room and wine cellar

Wine Cellars/Storage Rooms

Sure, it would be great if your home came with a dedicated wine cellar but not everyone has a basement in their home. Depending on your space there may be a closet, storage room or other space you can dedicate. The main thing is a space that’s not far from a drain to allow the cooling equipment to drain. After that the options for a wall display or walk-in room can be determined.

Wine Refrigerators

A perfect option for ease and future mobility keeping your wines ready to enjoy.

There are two types of refrigerated units with vastly different price ranges. On the low-priced end are readily available units often under $500.00 for short-term storage, from a few days to a month. These are “refrigerators” which cool and dry the air so not for long-term storage.

On the upper scale (over $3K) are proper wine dedicated units that are designed to cool the air without removing all the moisture and causing corks to dry out and ruin the contents. These sometimes have options for white or red wine with two temperature zones.

Wine Storage Done Right

No matter the choice, storing wine means protecting it from dry air or excess moisture, temperature changes and light exposure (and possibly curious little hands). Our team will help you choose the option that works best for your lifestyle and design choices so that your wine collection gets the place of honour it deserves.
