Home Renovation Design FAQs
What does a design-build firm do?
A design-build firm handles both the design and the construction of your renovation, so one team is responsible from first sketch to final build. You get a single point of contact instead of coordinating a separate designer and contractor, and cost and feasibility are considered while the design is still taking shape.
How much does a home renovation cost in Vancouver?
Every home is different, so we don’t publish estimates. We share detailed numbers after an in-person meeting, once we understand the scope and condition of your space.
How long does a renovation take?
Bathrooms typically take 4 to 6 weeks, kitchens 8 to 14 weeks, and whole-home renovations 4 to 9 months. Design time varies with scope and permitting, so we confirm your schedule before we break ground.
Do I have to commit after the first consultation?
No. Your first conversation is a 15-minute call with our principal designer, and an in-home meeting only happens if you choose to take the next step. The visit is a conversation, not a contract.
What types of projects do you take on?
We handle residential projects, from full home renovations to kitchens and bathrooms, as well as commercial interiors and office renovations.
What areas do you serve?
Our main service area is Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Richmond, and we take on select projects in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and across Metro Vancouver.
Are you certified and insured?
Yes. maison d’etre is a BC certified renovator and fully insured. We’re RenoMark and CHBA CRC certified and BBB accredited.
