vision & challenges
- condo bought for location/building attributes but lacked storage and functional layout
- clients needed rooms to have multiple uses
design solutions
- gutted unit – all new finishes/fixtures selected for compatibility and durability
- removed living-room wall to relocate and create open concept kitchen/living area directly connected to patio/BBQ
- located new island on edge of raised floor with level countertop surface; stools on living room floor level – bar height
- client selected accent colours – orange/blue/green; utilized for tile accent/glass doors/fabrics
- raised ceilings to accommodate abundant upper storage throughout
- designed two multi-purpose rooms – one for office/workshop/laundry; one for office/guest bedroom/yoga; guest room cabinetry serves as office, rotates for access to pull down bed
- enlarged ensuite – 2 sinks/storage/shower
- installed fans for air circulation; LED lighting with dimmers; heated floors in bathrooms and showers
